How God Saved Me Through Divorce | My Christian Testimony
If it wasn’t for my abrupt and gut-wrenching divorce, I wouldn’t be where I am today in my relationship with the Heavenly Father. I truly believe that God used that season of darkness to get my attention—to ultimately show me that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But it was up to me to follow Him.
This is my testimony of how God saved me through divorce and used the pain to pull me closer to Him. What felt like an ending was really the beginning of my spiritual transformation. And this is just the first of many episodes in my journey with Yahushua (Jesus).

How God Saved Me Through Divorce | Christian Testimony
1. Let Go of What Was Never Meant for You
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing... I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." —Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)
Letting go is often the first and hardest step. But when God asks you to release something, it’s because He’s preparing something better. I had to trust Him with the ashes of my broken marriage so He could rebuild me from the inside out.
Letting go built my faith, and faith built intimacy with God.
2. Accepting Where I Went Wrong
While divorce is never part of God’s ideal, He can use it for His glory. Part of my healing came through accountability—examining my own faults instead of solely focusing on what the other person did.
Healing begins with honesty.
"He must increase, but I must decrease." —John 3:30
God began to cleanse me from patterns and behaviors that were not aligned with His purpose. He was transforming me to reflect His image.
3. Seek the Kingdom of God First
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." —Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
This verse became my anthem. I turned my focus away from bitterness and toward the presence of God. As I studied His Word, I began to learn who He really is—and who I am in Him.
4. Correcting Ungodly Ways
"He who heeds rebuke gets understanding." —Proverbs 15:32 (NKJV)
"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." —Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
God used this season to renew my mind and reshape my habits. He showed me the difference between my ways and His ways—and gently led me toward righteousness.
5. Settling into My Identity in Christ
"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation..." —2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
"It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..." —Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
As my identity shifted from brokenness to beloved daughter, I finally understood what it meant to settle into God's love. I no longer had to chase worth through relationships. I found my value in Christ alone.
6. Trusting in God’s Plan
"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." —Psalm 37:5
"‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord..." —Jeremiah 29:11
Through every tear and unanswered question, I learned to trust Yahuah God more deeply. He didn’t bring me to a dead end—He was leading me to a divine beginning.
7. Hurt People Hurt People
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace... self-control." —Galatians 5:22-23
God gave me the strength to view my ex-spouse through a lens of compassion, not hatred. Understanding doesn’t excuse wrongdoing, but it does bring peace. Healing happens when we let God soften our hearts.
8. The Power of Forgiveness
"If you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours." —Matthew 6:15
Forgiveness is the key to freedom.
Holding onto pain only kept me stuck. God taught me to release offense—not because they deserved it, but because He first forgave me.
Final Thoughts
This humbling journey led me to take Yahushua (Jesus) as my Messiah and Savior. My life is now built on His truth and not the lies of my past. I stand today as a living testimony of God’s redemptive power.
This is just the beginning.
